Stash Report Week 37, 2014

It would seem that this has turned into a monthly stash report for me.  In true Harriett fashion it's not even a end of month report but mid-month.  :)

It's suppose to be in the 100's today and I'll be working on a Christmas quilt.  Some how that just sounds wrong.  But that what September is like in Southern Calif.

I've been doing well not buying unless I need it for a project.  So my yardage in went right back out.  Love it when that happens. I have three quilts at my quilter so I can count out the tops..

Added since last report: 6 Yards
Added this Year: 110.75 Yards
Used since last report: 21.0 Yards
Used this Year:  174.0 Yards
Net Used this Year 63.25 Yards

Holding fast to being on the positive side. So if you are only interested in fabric you can stop now and head back over to Judy's for more stash reports.

So what else have I been up too:

We lucked into some old iron beds.

and I've been sorting them

Then there was a hutch that was just asking for a bit of paint

Some Halloween burlap that became pillows and upholstering for a chair

Oh can't forget a couple of quilts too.

Stash Report Week 8, 2014

Sorry I missed last week, did you miss me? While I was away there was fabric acquisition, are you surprised? I thought not.  I know what you are thinking, how can she tag along at a HAM Radio Convention and end up with fabric?  I'm telling you it's a talent. Remember when I went to the model railroad show ?

Anyway some of the HAM's spouses (and there are lady HAM's too) brought in guest speakers on different subjects just for us tagger-a-longers. (I just made that up).  One seminar was on quilting and using the strip tube ruler which of course I just happen to own (and have used) but I'm always for picking up new pointers, and I did.

The speaker was from Grandma Jo's quilt shop which happen to be just down the street.  We stopped in on our way out of town. I wanted to show Mr. Bill their zing binding. I'm putting it on the baby quilt I'm finishing up so you can see it on Friday. This is the long way to say I bought 2 yards of fabric.

  •  Added this Week:  2.00 yards

  •  Added this Year:    54.75  yards

  •  Used this Week :  0.75 yards

  •  Used this Year:     46.75  yards

  • Net Used this Year -8.00 yards

That puts me a little deeper in the red, buying more that I've used. Not to worry I've three quilts that I'm working on binding and then I can count out some fabric.

PS: Grandma Jo's Quilt Shop in Yuma Az.  Had a great selection of fabrics and the ladies were very friendly. I could not find a web site and one is not listed on their business card. If you are going through Yuma AZ , just google Grandma Jo's and stop in for a shopping break.

Stash Report Week 41, 2013

Over the summer I was a bit lax with my stash report, ok a lot lax. But I'm ready to get back in the habit of reporting stash on Sunday.

There has been sewing going on here since I'm getting ready for a craft show in November.  Table runners, Pillowcases, ornaments and a few lap quilts are all in the works.

[caption id="attachment_2328" align="aligncenter" width="300"]Shopping Trip Shopping Trip[/caption]

But there has also been shopping. You would be so proud of me I stuck to my list. Someone made that "No Stashing for 100 Days" rule. There was no fabric bought for the stash, everything purchased has a purpose.  Some has already been cut and sewn and counted out. Got to love it when it's in and out in one week.

  • Added since last report: 10.25 yards

  • Added this year: 357.50 yards

  • Used since last report: 10.25 yards

  • Used this year: 155.75  yards

  • Net 2012  -201.75  yards

There I am, I still added a lot more this year than I've used.  My goal is to get that red number down to 150 or less. Don't laugh it could happen.

I'm linking up with Judy at Patchwork Times.

Stash Report Week 38, 2013

It's been a long time since my last stash report.  I've had a few distractions around here.

[caption id="attachment_2280" align="aligncenter" width="300"]It started with this It started with this[/caption]

[caption id="attachment_2281" align="aligncenter" width="300"]That lead to this That lead to this[/caption]

[caption id="attachment_2282" align="aligncenter" width="300"]Which became this Which became this[/caption]

[caption id="attachment_2284" align="aligncenter" width="225"]Then this Then this[/caption]

[caption id="attachment_2285" align="aligncenter" width="225"]Finally this. Finally this.[/caption]

Everything is back together again but what job it turned out to be.

The good news is that I have been doing some sewing not as much as I thought.  The other good news is that there has also been some shopping.

I usually just stack my fabric purchases for a photo cause you never know if "you know who" might be reading a post. :)

This time some fabrics were just so cute they had to have their own photo.

[caption id="attachment_2287" align="aligncenter" width="300"]Thanksgiving Thanksgiving[/caption]

[caption id="attachment_2288" align="aligncenter" width="300"]Christmas Christmas[/caption]

Everything has a purpose and is in it's project bag.

Here are this weeks numbers;

  • Added since last report: 20.25 yards

  • Added this year: 347.25 yards

  • Used since last report: 42.50 yards

  • Used this year: 151.25 yards

  • Net 2012  -196.00 yards

I only have to use 96 yards by the end of the year to make my goal of being under 100 yards stashed.  I do have a lot of sewing to do by then but I'm thinking I'll have to adjust that goal.

Stash Report Week 16, 2013

We've had a great week of travel.  We have been to museums, taken in a concert, lots of antique shops and swap meets, the ham radio DX convention and antique farm equipment show, oh and a couple of fabric stores too.  I'm thinking we'll be real ready to sleep in our own bed tonight.

CA RRMuseum

I know that I'm ready to be home and start in on my UFO's I've been inspired reading everyone's progress. This week I want to come up with my plan for my UFO's and to get back to the projects I have going too.

My numbers haven't moved this week because the fabric is not in the sewing room yet.  Still in the car until it's unpacked tomorrow not to mention that box that arrived just before we left.  I think I need to get something finished this week to off set the incoming fabric.

  • Added this week: 0 yds

  • Added this year:  156.75 yds

  • Used this week:  4.25 yds

  • Used this year: 75.75 yds

  • Net 2012  -81.0 yds

Stash Report Week 11, 2013

There has been some sewing and some buying. So it's all good Right?

I finished up two small quilts, one Easter and one baby.  I'm still binding the baby quilt so there will be photos tomorrow but the Easter quilt has been delivered.

[caption id="attachment_1935" align="aligncenter" width="300"]Easter Quilt Easter Quilt[/caption]

Ok so much for the sewing on to the buying.  Last week when I went to pick up the backing for my QOV there were some really nice backing fabrics in the sale section so I went back this week and picked up three more five yard cuts.  Then there were a few fabrics I needed..pink for the baby quilt..red for QOV..white, well you just always need some kona white on hand.

SR11 2

Then there was the fat quarter sale, there are fifty fat quarters here.  I wanted colors that I don't have much of in my stash.  I'm so proud there is only one purple in the whole bunch.  Greens and browns were sadly lacking in the stash along with blue, but not anymore.

Stash Report Week 6, 2013

Stash report time again, so soon!  Man that yardage adds up fast when you get to the checkout.  I pick up some St. Patricks fabric for a little quilt.  The red/white/blue fabrics were 50% off so I pick up some to add to the QOV fabric pile.  I also add some Easter which it sort of being hard to find.SR6 4

SR6 3

Saturday we went to a big model train show and can you believe that I found the one booth that had fabric.  There were several bolts but since I didn't have anything in mind for it I just pick up a couple of panels, after all I do have train fabric in the stash.

SR6 2SR6 1

On the fabric I used side I can count a pillowcase and my Snoopy Valentine Quilt.  I count my fabric when the quilt/project   is complete.  I have one quilt at the quilter and I'm planning on have three ready when I have my long arm rental time later this month so my numbers could improve if I stay out of the stores.
