Design Wall Monday March 17, 2014

I have more projects going right now than usual. I usually try to keep it down to one or two or three projects out and being worked on because with more than that happening things can get lost or mixed up.

I made a very ambitious goal list for March, so I've been working on checking things off that list. Also working from a list has kept me much more focused, go figure.

I've been focused on my UFO's this month. On the design wall is the Black and White with Charms.  Then over here on the ironing board is the Disappearing 4 patch blocks I'm sewing in between the rows of the black and white. There are also some 3 1/2 inch 9 patches that I've been doing as a leader/ender that I want to speed up. The strips on the back of the ironing board are for QOV labels.

I'm really hoping to be back in the sewing room this week, in fact I'm planning a mini solo retreat for Thursday and Friday.  Around here that could mean a couple of hours of uninterrupted sewing or a whole day, it will be a surprise and I will relish every moment.

I'm linking up with Judy at Patchwork Times so head on over there and check out the beautiful things that others are making.

I have two projects that I'm very excited about coming up and I'll be posting about them this week.

March Goals

It's time to finalize my  March Goals.

I get excited about making list and will just list everything I want to do, then I have to rein myself in and think about what is possible. Darn it, but I can't sit in my tower sewing room and just sew and sew, at least not this month.

1. Label and Bind  "Woods" quilt

2. Label and Bind "Thank You Deere" quilt

3 Wash and Label 4 QOV and send off

Yes this year I'm determined to get over my label phobia. :)

4. Complete tote bags for quilt club challenge

I was looking at my UFO's and they are just not moving along fast enough for me so I've decide to make them my main focus for March and April. Here's what I've chosen for March

5. Disappearing 4 Patch--This is my Lovely Year of Finishes Goal you can read about Here

6. Black and White with Charms-- Have a few rows done but now I need to locate a missing stack of charms.

7. Quilters puzzle--This is one of my oldest UFO's. It's cut out but that's all. I will decide if I'm still in love with it, if not the fabric will be return to the stash.

8. Finish my Orange Butterfly quilt- Have appointment with longarm, then label, bind and mail off

9. Start Baby quilt for my soon to be new nephew. This is my March NewFo

10. Complete 2 Halloween Hocuspocusville blocks.

11. Make tote bag for an April birthday

12. Make serious dent in taming scraps. Cut sizes needed for upcoming summer projects.

13.  Two flannel quilt tops. In January my quilt budding and I started cutting flannel to make giving quilts. My plan was to work on this at quilt club on Thursdays but that's not getting the kitted up quilts sewn very fast so I'm adding two quilt tops to my monthly goal.

I think this is where I should stop. I told you I can get carried away when making list.  I think about 80% of this list is doable even with a super busy month ahead, at least I have a plan so I'm not just wandering aimlessly around the sewing room.

What I'm Working On and Goal Setting

A while back, like the middle of December it got a bit chilly here. I mean some mornings it was 40 degrees when we got up in the morning.  That was when Mr. Bill requested a fuzzy quilt and being the sweetheart I am, cough, cough I jumped right on it.  Then this being southern CA we got a warming trend and it got put away for a while as I was cleaning the sewing room.

Since I started it last year and it was put away in a project bag, I'm calling it a UFO. That way when I finish it I'll get to check it off the UFO list. I'm clever that way.

Speaking of UFO's so far I've listed 26 UFO's, 12 pulled projects and 2 long term projects. Now you know why I want to have something to cross off the list. :)

Since I've worked almost everyday since Christmas I'm giving myself to Friday to finish my list, yes I'm afraid there are more UFO/Projects lurking about in the sewing room. They are hiding but I will seek them out.

My goal is to work thru half of my UFO list what ever that number ends up being and half of my pulled projects and when I want to start something new it really should be one of them but I know that others things will get started too.

To what other people are working on head over to Judy's at Patchwork Times.
