Setting August Goals

It's time to set my August Goals.  I've been very lax about keeping track of my goals for several months.  I end up with many lists in many different places and then I lose track of what I want to accomplish.  Today is a good day to get back in the habit of putting them on the blog.

I have lots of things I want to get done going around and around in my head.  Listing some here for me to track should help me narrow them down. Let's see what to put on the list? There is my quilt club challenge that is due Sept 5th so that's a given. Then I need to ramp up my sewing for the one craft show I do that is in November. There are birthday and Christmas presents to be made.  Holiday pillowcases.  Still have t-shirt pillowcases that haven't gotten done.  The embroidery quilt I'm not getting done very fast, ok I don't even know where the block is that I've been working on for three months.  Oh can't forget the labels I need to make and get sewn on to quilts. Then I wanted to do some rearranging in the sewing room this month while the sewing machines were at the sewing spa.  These are just the ones I can think of off the top. Who know what else will pop up during the month or what NewFo will be calling my name.  Darn I already feel so far behind and it's just the first day of August.

Here is my Get It Done List for August.

1. Charm quilt (this is the Quilt Club UFO Challenge)

2. Start on Fall and Holiday pillowcases Goal of 10 done in August

3. Make Labels and send out quilts

4. Make One tote bag

5. Trace blocks for embroidery quilt (find the first one too.)

Ok I think five set goals for August is good.  I've marked my calendar for a mid month check in on Aug 16th.

Ok August bring it on!

Get It Done April/May 2013

It's the last day of April and time to look at what I got done on my April List and make my May List.

First the April List:

1.  Trace embroidery blocks  NOT DONE

2. Kit up embroidery blocks and thread for road trip I DID THIS ONE AND WORKED ON IT TOO.

3. Clean up and move furniture in sewing room  I DID SOME CLEANING UP BUT NO FURNITURE WAS MOVED

4. If I've any time left work on all the items I haven't gotten done in the first three months  NO MORE PROGRESS HERE

I have started to wonder why even make a list, but I'm stubborn like that or eternally hopeful.

Now for my May List:

1. Quilt for West Texas

2. Quilt for Quilt Club Donation

3. Orphan Block Quilt

4. Soft Flower Quilt

There's my list and I'm sticking to it.

Get It Done March 2013

It's time once again to report on my Get It Done List.

My February List:

1. Trace five blocks for Snowman Quilt.   NOPE

2. Trace blocks for Route 66 Quilt.  OOPS DIDN'T DO THAT EITHER

3. Make light table for tracing the above blocks. YES !! I GOT SOMETHING DONE

4. Easter Quilt. HAVE TO SEW ON THE BINDING, SO I GUESS THAT'S A NO.

5. Also work on finishing up the January List. HA I SAY.

The one goal that I did get done was making a light table for tracing the blocks for my embroidery projects.

I have big windows in my house but they are all small paned so I wanted it to be easier to trace my blocks.  I knew I had this large piece of glass I found when cleaning out a closet. Mr. Bill cut the 2x4's and glued them together and we went to Home Depot and picked up the under counter light.  Now I have a light table!!

Easter quilts, Well it's like this ..  I made two small Easter quilts.  One I have to bind and it will be done by this weekend and the second one  is half quilted.  It was the first quilt I put on and there was a tension problem so I'm unquilting a couple of rows.

Sometimes I  think that I'm making a Don't Get It Done List. It seems that what I put on the list gets pushed aside for other projects.  So with that in mind I made along with the fact that we are having guest at the end of the month, I thought and thought about my March List.

March Get It Done List

1. Quilt of Valor, finish

2. Trace Blocks

3. Finish quilting Easter quilt

4. Label and mail three QOV setting in my office.

This is my March list.  Maybe this will be the month I GET IT DONE.

Get It Done January Report / February Goals

So how did I do on my January Get it Done List.  I'd have to say I did fair. In the middle of the month I received a rush order for two memory quilts so things got shuffled around

1.  New Year Day Quilt of Valor:   I want to have the top completed including boarders.  The back and binding made and ready for quilting.  The strips are ready to go for New Year Day.  I got the center completed and I'm deciding on borders.

2.  Christmas Quilt Along:  I almost have all the pieces cut.  I want to have the blocks made and sewn together. This has become a leader/ender project and I'm making headway on it.

3.  Cowboy Tumbler:  Finish Cutting out the tumblers and complete the top.  I'd like to get this one quilted this month.  I need to cut more tumblers

4.  Red & White:  Make two more sets of blocks. Done..I made three more sets of blocks.

I'm really glad that Judy came up with this challenge. While I didn't get everything on my list done, I did get a lot done in a month with very limited sewing time.

FEBRUARY GET IT DONE GOALS:

1. Trace five blocks for Snowman Quilt.

2. Trace blocks for Route 66 Quilt.

3. Make light table for tracing the above blocks.

4. Easter Quilt

5. Also work on finishing up the January List

That's my list for February.

I have become increasingly frustrated with my lack of having hand work ready for taking with me to work on, so this month I'm putting it on the list.  By the end of this month I will  have hand work to take with me.

I want to make a cute little Easter Quilt (I have a panel somewhere in my fabric closet).

Of course I still want to finish up the January List.
