A Friday Finish-Tote Bag

I finally have a Friday Finish, it's been a long time between finishes.

FFToteBag1

This is a very cute, very large tote bag.  I'd made one a couple of years ago and a friend asked if I'd make one for her.  Yikes! I thought.  Sure hope I can find the pattern and then remember how?  Well most of it came back to me when I read the pattern and I asked questions of the girls at quilt club that helped me last time.

FFtotebag

It all came together and I'm thinking I'll make another just to be sure I remember for next time.

The tote bag pattern is Chubby Charmer by Penny Sturges.

I'm linking up with Confessions of a Fabric Addict for Whoop Whoop Friday.

Not what I should be working on

Do you ever come up with an ideal and tell yourself you'll just make two or four blocks to see how it's going to look.  Then next thing you know....you're not working on what you should be doing, the stuff with deadlines.  You just keep working on your little ideal..Well that's what I've been doing this week.

[caption id="attachment_2052" align="aligncenter" width="300"]3 inch strips 3 inch strips[/caption]

All last week I kept trying to come up with a quick little donation quilt for Quilt Club and every thing I came up with wanted to be bigger than a 40 inch quilt.  So I stopped for a few days and work on other projects.  But I kept seeing this package of left over three inch strips of Asian fabric from a quilt I did a couple of years ago.  I kept thinking what if I sew them together..but then what.

I came up with nine patches and I like them.  I'll add white or cream sashing with corner stones and it will be the right size.  But now I like making them so much and they are going together really fast that that's what I sew on every time I'm in the sewing room.  And I wonder how projects become UFO's?  Could it be anything to do with my short attention span? :)

A few blocks between projects and to start and end a sewing session and the little quilt is coming together.

April New FO

It's the end of April and time to check out my NewFO List.  I really hadn't planned on starting any new quilts this month I wanted to finish up what I was working on.  But you know how it goes, I was putting away fabric and I got side tracked, next thing you know there are squares up on the design wall

Orphan Blocks:   I picked up some blocks from the table at quilt club and started playing with them up on the wall and this is what I came up with.  Top is done and back is made.  Just waiting for my long arm appointment.

Soft Flowers:  This one just sort of happen. I've got the center done. I have the border picked out and the backing set aside.

Disappearing Four Patch:  I found a baggie of charm squares that I'd cut up at some time and thought I'd try  a disappearing four patch.  I love it and love the colors I'll be working on this quilt for sure this coming month.

Get It Done April/May 2013

It's the last day of April and time to look at what I got done on my April List and make my May List.

First the April List:

1.  Trace embroidery blocks  NOT DONE

2. Kit up embroidery blocks and thread for road trip I DID THIS ONE AND WORKED ON IT TOO.

3. Clean up and move furniture in sewing room  I DID SOME CLEANING UP BUT NO FURNITURE WAS MOVED

4. If I've any time left work on all the items I haven't gotten done in the first three months  NO MORE PROGRESS HERE

I have started to wonder why even make a list, but I'm stubborn like that or eternally hopeful.

Now for my May List:

1. Quilt for West Texas

2. Quilt for Quilt Club Donation

3. Orphan Block Quilt

4. Soft Flower Quilt

There's my list and I'm sticking to it.

Stash Report Week 17, 2013

I did say that this week my incoming fabric number was going to take a hit this week after our road trip last week.  When I added up the numbers it wasn't as bad as I thought..HA HA  Not only did I have the fabric I picked up on the trip but there was that box from Connecting Threads that arrived just before we left.

[caption id="attachment_2030" align="aligncenter" width="300"]More 4th July More 4th July[/caption]

I think I'm good on Red/White/Blue fabric and on 4th of July.  I also picked up some osnaburg fabric for a few projects

I would have loved to be able to report fabric out, but alas no.  I've been sewing but I count it out when it's finished or quilted.  I sure was tempted to change my fabric out counting method because my appointment for the long arm isn't for two more weeks.  I'll just have to wait for the out going numbers to change, unless I get some of those pillowcases done.

Design Wall Monday

Yes it's the same picture from last week.  Remember I've been gone having fun all last week.  Of course I now have a billion things to do today but I'm determined  to have borders on this quilt this evening.  I mean really the quilt is due at quilt club on Thursday night so  I look at it this way..I'll have a finish to post on Friday. :)

DW48

I'll also be putting away the fabric bought on this road trip and counting it for next weeks report.  That could sting a bit, but most of what I bought already has purpose.

Stash Report Week 16, 2013

We've had a great week of travel.  We have been to museums, taken in a concert, lots of antique shops and swap meets, the ham radio DX convention and antique farm equipment show, oh and a couple of fabric stores too.  I'm thinking we'll be real ready to sleep in our own bed tonight.

CA RRMuseum

I know that I'm ready to be home and start in on my UFO's I've been inspired reading everyone's progress. This week I want to come up with my plan for my UFO's and to get back to the projects I have going too.

My numbers haven't moved this week because the fabric is not in the sewing room yet.  Still in the car until it's unpacked tomorrow not to mention that box that arrived just before we left.  I think I need to get something finished this week to off set the incoming fabric.

  • Added this year:  156.75 yds

  • Used this week:  4.25 yds

  • Used this year: 75.75 yds
